Jessica Sierra charged with cocaine possession, aggravated battery; works at Hooters

July 29, 2008

American Idol 4 finalist Jessica Sierra was arrested and charged this weekend with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of cocaine, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s report.

She was “out partying with friends at the Hyde Park Cafe in South Tampa” when “[p]olice say Sierra smashed a heavy glass over a man’s head, causing a gash right above his eye,” FOX 13 Tampa Bay reports, adding that “sources tell FOX 13 News the man may have spit on Sierra.”

A Tampa Bay Police Department spokesperson told FOX 13, “Officers were able to talk to the victim and the suspect, and discovered they had some sort of heated exchange and at some point Jessica Sierra threw a cocktail glass at the victim. … Sierra was not cooperative with police, she was belligerent, kicking at back window when she was placed in the patrol car, and warned several times if she didn’t stop kicking, she would be placed in leg constraints. At that time, she did settle down.”

Her star has fallen fast: Her mug shot looks a lot different than her promotional shots from two years ago. And while her arrest record shows her as “self employed” as a singer, FOX 13 reports that Jessica “has been working at a Hooters in South Tampa.”

(Major Figgas) Dutch & Spade – If you want it

July 29, 2008

Major Figgas is a rap septet from the Erie Avenue section of north Philadelphia. It began with childhood friends Gillie Da Kid and Rolx, who rapped together at Cabrini College with Bump J. The team of Dutch & Spade joined them, along with Ab Liva, and the group was completed by its sole female member, Bianca. By 1998, local tapes had brought them to the attention of the major record labels, but they released their debut album, Figgas 4 Life, independently in November 1999 before signing to Chris Schwartz’s Philadelphia-based RuffNation Records, which had a manufacturing and distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records. The album was reconfigured for expanded release, with new tracks added, the first single, “Yeah That’s Us,” remixed, and the whole thing remastered. RuffNation/Warner Bros. released the new version of Figgas 4 Life on August 22, 2000, by which time “Yeah That’s Us” was already in the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts.
(The lineup listed above is according to Major Figgas’ Warner Bros. Records press biography, dated August 8, 2000. The CD booklet for Figgas 4 Life lists the group’s personnel as Wal-Lo, Gillie Da Kid, Ab Live, Spade, Dutch, Rolx, Bumpie Johnson, Bianca [First Lady], Chops, Rucis, El Dinero, Dirty Rik, P-Nut [20/20], and Lee Spade, though only seven people were pictured on the cover.)

Here you have the video! Watch it and hear the good rap music.

Who’s your daddy? Not Chris Rock

July 29, 2008

Plus: Sam Ronson replies to Ali Lohan rumor; India may not let Snoop in

The courts have ruled in Chris Rock’s favor,
but one Georgia woman refuses to let go of her claim that the comedian
fathered her child, and is even moving forward with plans to write a
book detailing her alleged relationship with Rock.

In the press release Kali Bowyer circulated for her upcoming book “Hollywood Child,” Bowyer claims her past included “a hot affair with racy comedian Chris Rock.” Her life, according to the release, “started crashing down all around her,” until “getting pregnant with Chris’ son saved her life.”

Despite DNA tests that proved that the comedian is not the father of Kali Bowyer’s child, she is moving forward with a book that still claims the boy is Rock’s son.

Spears and Federline settle custody case

July 28, 2008

LOS ANGELES – Britney Spears and Kevin Federline finalized their child-custody settlement Friday, including a $5,000-per-month increase in child support for the pop singer’s ex-husband.
An attorney for Federline delivered the terms of two separate agreements to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon, who gave his approval late Friday afternoon.
The settlement ends a months-long saga between Spears and Federline over custody issues, attorneys fees and the singer’s public meltdown earlier this year. It may not, however, be the final word on the pair’s custody arrangements.

The couple’s children are young: Sean Preston is 2 years old and Jayden James is 1. As the boys grow older, and Spears and Federline’s lives evolve, so too might their custody arrangements.

“Everyone has a right to change it at some point,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan said Friday.

For now, Spears’ payments to Federline will increase from $15,000 to $20,000 per month, retroactive to July 15. Spears will also pay Federline’s attorneys, Kaplan and James Simon, a single payment of $250,000.

Amy Winehouse taken to emergency room

July 28, 2008

The reason for the trip to the hospital was not immediately clear

LONDON – Amy Winehouse was taken to an emergency room at a London hospital Monday night, but the reason was not immediately clear, a spokesman for the Grammy-winning singer said.

An ambulance took Winehouse from her north London home to University College Hospital, spokesman Chris Goodman said. He said he did not know what might be wrong with the 24-year-old.

Winehouse’s musical success has been overshadowed by her tumultuous private life and public struggles with drugs and alcohol. Her father has said she developed early stage emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine.

London Ambulance Service said it was called to an address in north London at 8:40 p.m. local time.
“We sent an ambulance and a fast response car and the patient has been taken to hospital,” it said in a statement without naming Winehouse.

Amy Winehouse has been taken to University College Hospital’s accident and emergency unit, her spokesman said on July 28.
